3D-printing training for engineers

31 oktober 2016 | 3D printing is hot! That’s why the technical people of Irmato, Philips, Neopost and Norma followed a special training course on 3D printing in October to increase their insight and knowledge of the possibilities and applications. At the end of the course, the engineers visited the Fraunhofer research institute in Aachen.

Especially for work planners, designers, project managers, technologists, and engineers of our high-tech companies, Tobias Klimkait (Aconity3D GmbH) gave a training on Additive Manufacturing and Design for Additive Manufacturing on behalf of training institute Mikrocentrum in Eindhoven. Klimkait acquainted the participants with all 3D printing technologies and showed them how 3D printing allows you to make designs that are impossible to make with conventional technologies. All aspects, ranging from design, costs, influencing factors, to types of 3D printing, post processing, polymers, and metals, were covered during the course.

This state-of-the-art training was given on-site in Innovation Cluster Drachten’s new Shared Facility Center on the Philips Drachten site. This center has the largest industrial 3D metal printer in the Northern Netherlands. All companies that are part of ICD can use the printer to gain experience. The training week ended with a visit to the German Fraunhofer Institute in Aachen.
