ICD attracted a lot of attention at PhD Day 2019

23 september 2019 | 700 students of as many as 40 nationalities visited the PhD Day in Groningen on Friday September 20.

Four ICD companies were present to give information to students: BD, Philips, Astron and XPARVision. In a special workshop on ‘hidden high-tech diamonds’, ICD program manager Joost Krebbekx told students what our cluster of companies could do for their careers.

Krebbekx: “Some PhD graduates do not feel at home in the academic world. They are looking for a job outside this world after completing their PhD track. We spoke to 40 candidates this year. Last year, PhD Day provided us with two new employees. One of them was present at our stand this year: this was Vera Carniello who now works at BD.” The companies thought the PhD day was lively and students showed a lot of interest. “But you never know what people take away.”
